Head of Shas party Eli Yishai announced his intention to help the national religious public. He said that he wants to establish government founded national religious yeshivot for young children and also help those who were evacuated from Gush Katif find permanent housing.

Yishai said: “After three years of activity on behalf of those who were evacuated I have become more and more convinced that I must help the national religious sector. They have been abandoned by those who pretend to represent them in their needs of education, employment, and cheap housing for young couples.”
