Minister of Defense Ehud Barak said Sunday in the government’s cabinet meeting that he will consider compensating Arabs in Hevron for damages to their property incurred during the evacuation of the Peace House. Barak said he has sent appraisers to Hevron to assess the damage and established a special commission to consider compensating the Arabs.
Barak evacuated the Peace House two weeks ago. The Hevron community claim they bought the Peace House for 750,000 dollars and also claim to have extensive evidence documenting the sale. The property dispute is currently in court.
