The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel asked Minister of Environmental Protection, Gidon Ezra, to renew water monitoring in the Mediterranean Ocean and the Red Sea. The government has ceased funding water monitoring in these two bodies of water.

The Society asked Ezra “to change the decision, and strengthen the monitoring program with a long term financial commitment.” They added, “The Society for the Protection of Nature will act with all its ability to prevent the cessation of water monitoring.”
