The United Nations Security Council is expected to pass on Tuesday a resolution calling on Israel to continue discussions with the Palestinian Authority on "core issues," meaning the status of Jerusalem and the PA demand that large numbers of foreign Arabs be allowed to immigrate to Israel.
One of the objectives of the planned resolution may be to put pressure on a government headed by Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu, who has said that a new Arab state should be established only after it has the economic security to exist as a stable entity.
