The Likud leads the pack and is the only possible party to head a coalition in the next government, according to four pre--election polls carried out this week. The surveys give Likud 31-36 seats and Kadima 20-28. All four polls show Labor regaining some of its lost strength and winning 11-15 Knesset Members. The party now has 19 seats in the Knesset, compared with 12 for Likud and 29 for Kadima.

All four polls show that Meimad and HaTikva will not win enough votes to elect the minimum two MKs necessary to enter the legislature. Two polls show that the Green party will win three seats, but two others reveal that they will be shut out, as they were in previous elections. The remaining parties have approximately the same support they had in the last general elections in early 2006.
