The elections committee of the Likud party accepted a petition by Ofir Akuni, an associate of party lead Binyamin Netanyahu, that demands that a number of women, minority and regional representatives be moved up to reserved spots by virtue of the successes of other women. The decision means that Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership) faction leader Moshe Feiglin, who was in the 20th spot after Monday's primary election, will now appear in the 36th spot.
Feiglin plans to appeal the decision, to the Supreme Court if necessary. He repeated his statement after the primaries that the Likud might win 40 seats in February's general election, but the 36th spot may be less likely to enter the Knesset, according to other prognosticators.
