No rain is expected in Israel before the middle of next week except for the chance of isolated light showers during the Sabbath. Following a rainy October, an extremely dry November has left water authorities anxious over the possibility that Israel is facing a fifth straight year of drought.

This week's rain measured between 20-40 millimeters (one to one and a half inches) in the Upper Galilee and northern coastal regions and less than 10 millimeters in the areas of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.

Temperatures Thursday are predicted to reach 18 (64 F) in Jerusalem and 22 (72 F) in Tel Aviv and Be'er Sheva. At night, the thermometer will dip to 10 (50 F) in Jerusalem, 14 (57 F) in Tel Aviv, 12 (54 F) in Be'er Sheva, and it will be at the freezing mark on the Hermon mountains.
