Welfare Minister Yitzchak Herzog won in the Labor party primaries on Thursday. He was followed by MK Ophir Pines-Paz. They will appear in the second and third spots, behind party chairman Ehud Barak, whose spot was reserved.
Following Pines-Paz were MK Avishai Braverman, MK Shelly Yechimovich and Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai in that order. The next spot is reserved for Labor secretary MK Eitan Cabel. Minister of National Infrastructure Binyamin Ben-Eliezer won the eighth slot. Education Minister Yuli Tamir was given the ninth spot, which was reserved for a woman candidate, even though she received fewer votes than former party head Amir Peretz, who was given the tenth spot. Polls show Labor winning fewer than 10 seats in the national elections.
