Noam Shalit, father of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, met with Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday to discuss Israel's efforts to secure his sons freedom. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Gaza terrorists in the summer of 2006.
Earlier in the day, Shalit's grandfather Tzvi Shalit called on Olmert to secure Shalit's release before a new government comes into power. The period of transition between this government and the next will be busy, and lawmakers may not have enough time to deal with the issue of obtaining Shalit's freedom, he said.
