(IsraelNN.com) Sandra Samuel, the nanny who saved two-year-old Moshe Holtzberg during last week's horrific terror attacks in Mumbai, India, spoke to CNN on Thursday and described the rescue. Samuel insisted that she was “not a hero,” saying, “This baby is precious to me, so I didn't think of anything... so I picked him up and fled. Who thinks of death when there's a baby in the room?” She said she will remain in Israel with Moshe until he no longer needs her.

Samuel said a terrorist shot at her as he broke into the Mumbai Chabad house. She fled to the first floor of the building, where she remained overnight. In the morning, she heard Moshe calling to her and ran to the second floor to save him.

She expressed regret that she had not done more, saying, “Even now, I think I should have put Moshe in a safe place and done something for the Rabbi and his wife.” The adult Holtzbergs appeared to be unconscious but alive, she said. Samuel said the terrorists had apparently beaten Moshe until he lost consciousness, and he had called out when he awoke.
