Two of the remaining demonstrators arrested in Tuesday night’s protest on behalf of the Peace House have been released Wednesday morning, according to David HaIvri, the international liaison of the Samaria Regional Council.
One hundred people demonstrated at the Tapuach Junction on behalf of the residents of the Peace House on Tuesday night. Three demonstrators were arrested. One was released several hours later.
The two others were only released Wednesday morning due to the direct intervention of the head of the Samaria Regional Council with Ariel police chief Albert Ohayon. Police orders to restrict the two protestors from the Samaria region were also dropped.
David HaIvri told Israel National News that he witnessed demonstrators blocking traffic at the Tuesday demonstration. According to HaIvri, the police apparently felt that it would be too cumbersome to arrest all the demonstrators. They therefore arrested three demonstrators, hoping that the remaining protestors would disband.
