MK Levi Leaving Politics Reported: 10:38 AM - Dec/03/08
(IsraelNN.com) Knesset Member Rabbi Yitzchak Levi will not run on the Jewish Home party list in the upcoming elections. Upset at the cancellation of the Jewish Home party primaries, Levi stated, “Unfortunately, the council decided to cancel the primaries and thus has breeched the public's trust in a new party.” “As a result of the breech of trust, I decided to remove my candidacy from the Jewish Home party list to the Knesset. I intend to continue in public service in the field of education and in additional social issues,” Rabbi Levi stated. Rabbi Levi was a member of the National Religious Party (NRP) until June 2004, when he and Knesset Member Effi Eitam resigned in protest against the plan to evict Jewish residents from Gaza. He and Eitam subsequently left the NRP and founded a new religious-Zionist party, Ahi, which joined the National Union alliance, in which he currently represents in the Knesset. ![]() Check out the Chill Zone - Funny, Entertaining Videos © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
