      Cabel Explains Primaries Fiasco

Labor party Secretary General Eitan Cabel explained Tuesday evening in a media conference that Labor's Election Committee, in keeping with the staunch pro-democratic feelings in the party, decided to conduct the first computerized political elections ever to be held in Israel. He said the company implementing the system conducted numerous successful trial runs.

He stressed that the process was intended to improve the purity of the elections, and described reports coming in starting at 10 a.m. After about three hours of tense nerves and worse reports he became convinced the process had lost its integrity, and was forced to cancel the primaries.

Cabel apologized for the computerized fiasco, in the name of the election committee.
