The commander of the Hevron Brigade announced on Sunday that a Border Policeman identified only as Said has been suspended from field duty and restricted to his base, following Shabbat's attack on Ateret Levinger, wife of incoming Kiryat Arba council chairman Malachi Levinger. According to a council investigation, it was the Border Policeman's attack on Levinger that led to an attack by an Arab mob on Jewish youths in front of Peace House, between Hevron and Kiryat Arba.
Said allegedly hit Levinger, knocked her to the ground, kicked her, tore her clothes and jewels, and cocked his rifle at her. Levinger has filed a complaint, and has been told that a police investigation of the event has begun.
