Israeli Chief Rabbinate Asks for Chabad House Support

The Israeli Chief Rabbinate met Sunday and called on the government of Israel to support Chabad Houses in Israel and around the world.  The Rabbinate also requested that the government attend to the security needs of the Chabad Houses.

Rabbi Shimon Elituv, Rabbi of the Binyamin Regional Council, was behind the initiative to call on the government to support Chabad Houses.  He explains:  "Chabad Houses act as embassies of the government of Israel."  He added, "Because of Chabad Houses thousands of Israelis can celebrate the holidays of Israel and have holiday meals without paying at all."
