Outgoing Mayor of Jerusalem, Uri Lupianski told Globes in an interview last week that the Government of Israel is de facto dividing the city of Jerusalem. Lupianski explained that the government has failed to invest in East Jerusalem and is therefore creating a situation where the two halves of Jerusalem grow further apart.
Lupianski explained that in the United States, capital city Washington DC receives a quarter of its budget from the Federal Government. He claims the city of Jerusalem deserves funding and support from the government to allow more people to afford living in the capital.
