The terrorist attack at the Chabad House in Mumbai was an "attack on the Jewish community in India," Delhi's only rabbi, Ezekiel Yitzchak Melekar, told the Indo-Asian News Agency. He added that following the gruesome attack, Indian synagogues are being "extra cautious" in allowing people to enter. Approximately 5,000 Jews live in India, 80 percent of them in Mumbai.
“It’s only natural, isn’t it? The attack on Nariman House was clearly an attack on the Jewish community in India. This incident has brought about apprehension in the minds of Jews here,” said Rabbi Malekar, head of the Judah Hyam Synagogue in the capital.
