The government will discuss the terror attacks in Mumbai at its weekly meeting Saturday. The discussion is expected to encompass further steps Israel can take to help protect Jewish sites outside the country in dangerous or unstable areas. According to security sources in the U.S., the Mumbai attacks were well-planned, and likely included elements of Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists training in Pakistan.
At a press conference Friday, Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni said that, contrary to earlier reports from India, it was unlikely that the Chabad House had been randomly selected. "There can be no doubt that Jews and Israelis were targeted. Our way of life is under attack, and it doesn't matter if it occurs in India or elsewhere," she said.
