Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik has strongly urged Israel's law enforcement community to take a more proactive stance in dealing with violence against women. Itzik's remarks came in recognition of the International Day against Violence Against Women, held around the world on Tuesday, November 25.
"Every citizen in Israel should take personal responsibility and act against the violence," Itzik admonished. "Only a society that acts under the banner of fighting against violence in general, and against women in particular, in a stronger society," she said.
