Former Israeli Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon says the assassination of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an option that must be considered to stop the Tehran government's nuclear development program. Ahmadinejad has made many statements about the impending end of modern-day Israel, and Iran has enriched enough uranium to be close to an atomic weapon.
In an interview published in Monday morning's Sydney Morning Herald, Ya'alon said, "There is no way to stabilize the Middle East today without defeating the Iranian regime. The Iranian nuclear program must be stopped." When asked whether that included military action against Ahmadinejad and the rest of Iran's current leadership, Ya'alon replied, "We have to consider killing him. All options must be considered."
