Mofaz: Budget Cuts to Traffic Safety 2009 Cancelled

Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz announced Sunday morning that the budget cuts to the National Authority for Road Safety for 2009 will be cancelled, and that he had concluded such with the Finance Minister, according to Army Radio. Mofaz said, "no one should even dare to think that we won't provide all the tools to those involved in the war against road accidents."

Mofaz met Sunday morning with Public Security Minister Avi Dichter at Beit Dagan, the nationwide headquarters of Israel Police's Traffic Department, to discuss traffic safety under the threat of budget cuts. Top police commanders were in the meeting as well, including Commissioner David Cohen.
