Jones, Former Mideast Advisor, May Head US Security

Former special Middle East military advisor Gen. James Jones is likely to be President-elect Barack Obama's national security advisor, American media reported. If he fills the position, the Israeli-Arab struggle will be only one of his problems.

He will face the issues of the war in Iraq, the Iranian and North Korean nuclear threats and domestic security problems stemming from the energy and economic crises. He was usually critical of Israel when he served as Middle East adviser.
