Israel to Compensate Leftist Wounded in Jenin Reported: 22:53 PM - Nov/20/08
(IsraelNN.com) Israel is planning to pay foreign activist Brian Avery NIS 600,000 in an out-of-court settlement, as compensation for serious facial wounds he says were caused by IDF soldiers in 2003 in Jenin, according to the Jerusalem Post. The state has not claimed responsibility for Avery's injuries. An army investigation continues. Avery, a United States citizen, came to Israel in 2003 with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a group dedicated to supporting Palestinian Authority Arabs in their fight against Israel. On April 5, Avery says, he and a fellow ISM volunteer left their apartment because they heard gunfire and thought there might be casualties in need of assistance, despite the fact that a curfew was in effect in the city while the IDF searched for terrorists. Avery said he was shot by soldiers in an Israeli army vehicle which approached them. ![]() Check out the Chill Zone - Funny, Entertaining Videos © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
