A court in Cairo ruled on Tuesday in support of a petition that Egypt must suspend the export of natural gas to Israel. The decision is subject to review by a higher court.
Some opponents of the 2005 deal between the two countries say Egypt is losing millions of dollars because Israel pays at a fixed rate. There are also political opponents of the agreement. Cancellation of the deliveries, which started last year, could cause a crisis in the Israeli national gas industry, according to Reuters.
