The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement Sunday night that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has approved the economic recovery plan of Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On. According to the statement, "The prime minister sees essential solutions in the program that the economy needs at this time."
The statement denied as "baseless" a report by Globes that the prime minister had postponed a Monday news conference presenting the program, saying the cabinet and Knesset finance committee should approve it first. Globes said the Finance Ministry was afraid politics might prevent approval of the program.
