Charges were filed Wednesday to the Tel Aviv District Court against a young man suspected of trying to set fire to an apartment where an Arab lives. The accused man, Eli Aharoni, is one of a group of six residents of HaTikva neighborhood implicated in the arson attempt, which took place in October.
The police claim that the six suspects, who include two minors, met on a soccer field after hearing about the violence between Arabs and Jews in Akko on Yom Kippur. The prosecution says that Aharoni received a note with the exact address of an apartment in HaTikva neighborhood where an Arab lives, and with instructions on preparing a fire bomb.
Aharoni went to a nearby gas station and bought gasoline. He then went to a park, where he prepared fire bombs. Police arrested him while he was on his way to the Arab's apartment.
