The flow of water into the Yarkon River in the Tel Aviv region was intentionally increased Monday, to dilute cleaning solutions and other chemicals that flowed into the river due to a fire at a Sano company factory.
Long stretches of the river are covered in foam from the chemicals.
The Rivers Authority told IDF Army Radio that it would take time to ascertain the extent of the damage caused.
