MK Gideon Saar has proposed new legislation to prohibit a transition government from conducting negotiations in which there is any chance of land concessions.

PM Olmert is thought to be willing to obligate the State to completely withdraw from the strategic Golan Heights if Syria would agree to direct talks with Israel, instead of using Turkey to mediate. There is some concern of the significance Olmert might ascribe to a fifth meeting through negotiators, as well, in exchange for which Olmert might offer a good will gesture.
