Former Shas Party spokesman Itzik Sudri has been named political advisor for Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu according to Ynet. The appointment is seen as a move to prevent Kadima leader Tzipi Livni from bringing the Sephardi-hareidi Shas party into the government coalition she is trying to build.

Sudri is still considered an associate of Shas chairman, Eli Yishai, as well as its spiritual leader, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. His official duties are as consultant on communications with hareidi media.
