Two unidentified assailants attacked an IDF soldier on the Tzrifin army base over the weekend and took his personal firearm. IDF officials called the incident “very serious,” and said they believed the attack was carried out by criminal elements seeking to acquire weapons for their own use.
According to IDF sources, the assailants entered the base on Saturday morning through a hole in a perimeter fence at the base. The assailants attacked a soldier on patrol near the fence, grabbed his automatic weapon, and fled. The soldier managed to call for help during the attack, but reinforcements arrived too late to catch his attackers. The soldier was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, sufferng from moderate injuries, the IDF sources said.
