(IsraelNN.com) In the wake of provocations on Shabbat by leftist and anarchist groups in Hevron, the Hevron Jewish community called on police to issue orders banning the leftists from the town, and to engage in intelligence-gathering operations aimed at preventing future incidents such as the one that occurred on Shabbat, when leftists harassed Jews as they marched through the Tel Rumeida neighborhood.

“We consider the attempts by leftists to imposed a desecration of the Shabbat on our community a very serious issue,” the Va'ad of the Hevron Jewish Community said in a statement. “The incident on Shabbat was nothing more than a leftist provocation. There has never been violence surrounding the olive harvest, and Arabs have never in the past needed the help of leftists or even police to conduct the harvest. The provocations on Shabbat, which included filming religious Jews as they returned from synagogue, forcing them to violate Shabbat, must be prevented in the future,” the statement said, adding that the Va'ad would file a complaint with police over the incident.
