(IsraelNN.com) Radical leftists and anarchists marched through Hevron's Jewish Tel Rumeida neighborhood on Shabbat morning, shouting provocative insults and calls for the removal of Jews from the town. The leftists blocked streets and harassed passerby, as local Arabs accused Jews of interfering with their olive harvest. Police eventually chased the leftists away, but several were arrested after they refused to leave. Remand for three of the arrested leftists was extended on Saturday night by a Jerusalem court.

Activist Baruch Marzel said that the leftists were trying to set off riots among the Arabs of the city against the Jews. The leftists released to the media footage of what they said was a confrontation between Jews and Arabs in an olive grove near Hevron, which Marzel said was “one sided,” editing out the aggression by the Arabs. “The Hevron police treats the left with silk gloves, and if things continue like this we will be forced to make them properly enforce the law,” Marzel said.
