The latest polls shows that 57 percent of American Jews back Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama, less than in previous surveys. Every Democratic presidential candidate since the days of Franklin Roosevelt has received more than 60 percent of the Jewish vote with the exception of Jimmy Carter in 1980.
Overall polls show that Sen. Obama has a solid lead over Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain.
