Adnan Husseini, a senior advisor to Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said Thursday that the Western Wall (Kotel) "is part of Islamic heritage that cannot be given up, and it must be under Muslim control." His comments that all of the Old City belongs to the Muslim is in opposition to statements by Abbas that a land swap would allow Israel to retain  sovereignty of the Jewish Quarter and Western Wall in the Old City.

 

--Sir Nicholas Winton, who saved hundreds of Czech Jewish children from the Nazis, has been nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Sir Nicholas, who now is 98 years old, paid a deposit of 50 British pounds for departure permits for children and then found British families willing to accept the children.

 

--Likud Knesset Member Yuval Steinitz said that the developing peace program of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is a "death trap" that sets the stage for war. Replying to the report that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has accepted in principle the Taba agreement, which granted the PA control over most of the OldCity, the Likud MK said it would allow Muslim extremists to take over the area and begin a war.
