Shas head Eli Yishai called Thursday for former Shas head Aryeh Deri to appeal a ruling forbidding him from running in the 2008 Jerusalem mayoral elections. Shas will support Deri if he appeals to the Supreme Court, Yishai said.
Yishai called the court's ruling “a blow to personal freedom.”
Deri said before the ruling that he would not appeal. He now says he will consult with rabbis over his response.
