Israel must withdraw from the Golan Heights and eastern Jerusalem, outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Hebrew newspaper Yediot Acharonot Friday. He previously has said that he had not promised Syrian President Bashar Assad that Israel would end its sovereignty over the strategic Golan area, and two years ago he vowed that the Golan Heights would remain in Israel as long as he was Prime Minister.
"One more hill, another 100 meters--this is not what is going to change the security of Israel," he maintained.
