A car bomb killed 17 people in Damascus on Saturday and wounded 14. The explosion took place near the city's international airport.
Several Syrian journalists blamed Israel for the blast. The car was located in an area frequently visited by Shiite Muslims, including Iranians, a fact which led the journalists to accuse Israel of attempting to kill Iranian citizens.
The Syrian opposition pointed out that explosion took place near a building owned by Syrian intelligence officers, and suggested that the blast was caused by a training accident and was not a deliberate attack.
