Organizers for the Paul McCartney concert scheduled Thursday night have boosted radio advertising in an effort to sell more tickets to the "Friendship First" concert. Current indications are that only slightly more than half of the expected 70,000 fans have shelled out 500-1,500 shekels ($145-$435) to see and hear the singer.
In an effort to show impartiality after rejecting leftists appeals to cancel his appearance, McCartney visited the British consulate in eastern Jerusalem and a church in Bethlehem on Wednesday. Proposals to televise the concert have been cancelled because of slow ticket sales.
