The ISA (Shin Bet) and police have arrested three Arabs from eastern Jerusalem who they believe murdered two policemen in two separate attacks and planned a third.
The first attack occurred near Shuafat, north of Jerusalem, in January 24 2008. A Border Police officer – Rami Zuari, 20, from Be'er Sheva – was mortally wounded in that attack and a female Border Police officer, also 20, was evacuated in critical condition after receiving a gunshot wound to the chest. The second attack occurred at the Lions' Gate. A Border Police officer, David Shriki from Rishon LeTzion, was shot in the head and later died of his wounds, while a second, Imad Gadir from the Druze village of Zarzir, was listed in moderate condition.
The group is headed by a 21 year old Arab from Anata.
