Some Israelis Can't Afford New Year's Meals Reported: 13:30 PM - Sep/22/08
(IsraelNN.com) About 45 percent of needy Israelis are decreasing their food purchases, according to a recent survey by the Latet Israeli humanitarian aid organization. A quarter of underprivileged people said they would be unable to celebrate Rosh Hashana this year without assistance from a humanitarian aid organization of some sort, and 24 percent said they cannot afford holiday food, such as chicken, fish, and meat. Around 100 aid organizations participated in the poll, and stated that 30 percent of the needy families seeking assistance are asking for more aid this year than in previous years, due to deterioration in their financial abilities. A whopping 71 percent of the organizations said they had been forced to hand out less food per person, many owing to the depreciation of the U.S. dollar. ![]() Check out the Chill Zone - Funny, Entertaining Videos © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
