Rabbi Amar: End Anti-Ethiopian Discrimination
Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Amar has issued a call to religious schools not to discriminate against any children due to their ethnic or racial background. Rabbi Amar said he wrote a letter to religious schools after several parents complained that their children were rejected due to their race. Sephardi Torah giant Rabbi Ovadia Yosef approved the message as well, Rabbi Amar noted.
Rabbi Amar warned heads of religious schools against paining children or their parents by rejecting them unfairly. Principals may feel they are doing the right thing, but “a thousand excuses... will not help anyone on judgment day,” he said.
