Over a dozen Meretz activists protested in Jerusalem's Central Bus Station on Tuesday and attempted to block the area. Activists said they were protesting the Egged bus company's decision to remove anti-hareidi advertising sponsored by Meretz from its Jerusalem city buses. The protesters accused Egged of “shutting our mouths,” and warned, “If they try to close our mouths, we'll close down their station.”
The advertisements in question included a promise from Meretz to prevent the “hareidization” of Jerusalem if elected. Hareidi-religious leaders sought to remove the advertisements, which they said were offensive and hurtful to the hareidi-religious community.
