The Counter Terrorism Bureau on Monday warned Israelis to leave the Sinai immediately due to an imminent and concrete plan by jihad terrorists to kidnap Israelis and smuggle them to Hamas-controlled Gaza. The bureau says Hizbullah is also involved in the plot.
Israel is warning citizens not to enter Sinai until after the upcoming High Holiday period, and issued an order prohibiting IDF soldiers, career soldiers, and civilians working for the military from traveling to Sinai. Soldiers found violating the order will be severely punished, according to an IDF statement.
The bureau has also published a list of recommendations for Israelis traveling abroad: maintain a high level of alert; avoid visiting Muslim or Arab countries, avoid unexpected and seductive business or pleasure proposals, reject impromptu meetings, don't let strangers into hotel rooms and break routines when traveling abroad for an extended period of time.
