Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal said that "not a single safe room has been constructed in Sderot" despite public announcements by the government promising protection for the residents. Housing Minister Zev Boim (Kadima) told the mayor that the situation is "unbelievable" and said that Kassam rocket fire can resume at any time if there is a total breakdown in the current ceasefire that has reduced rocket attacks on the western Negev since June 19.
The truce was again threatened late last week by two terrorist bomb attacks at the Gaza separation barrier.
