Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain's promise to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is easier said than done, Republican platform committee executive director Steven Duffield said. Sen. McCain made the pledge, repeating a similar pledge made by every president in recent year, a promise that always has been delayed for "security reasons."

"There is a disconnect between activists that control the platform committee in the Republican Party and the party's political leadership.... The platform is not something the leadership is bound to," Duffield told Dubai students in a teleconference.
