Jordan has differed from the view of Fatah and agrees with Hamas that Arab forces should not be deployed in Gaza. The Egyptian Foreign Minister proposed the idea last week.

Officials in Amman fear that implementing the idea would be a prelude to a plan for Egypt to re-take possession of Gaza and for Jordan to assume responsibility for Judea and Samaria.
