(IsraelNN.com) According to a report credited to United Press International and DebkaFile, Russian forces have raided two airfields in Georgia which Tbilisi had allowed Israel to use in a future attack against Iran. Taking off from Georgia would have allowed Israeli jets to reach northern Iran and the Tehran region without requesting U.S. permission for passing through Iraqi airspace. The report says that the airfields had already been used by Israeli aircraft for reconnaissance flights.

Russian Special Forces also reportedly raided other Israeli facilities in southern Georgia and captured Israeli spy drones, says the report.

The accuracy of some past reports by DebkaFile has been a matter of dispute.
