      IDF Improves Maps, Reconnaissance

The army has drastically improved its maps and information about Lebanon since the end of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, according to a report published in The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

Military intelligence celebrated its 60th anniversary this week with an interview granted the paper by IDF Chief Intelligence Officer Brig.-Gen. Yuval Halamish, who said the outdated maps that soldiers took into combat with them two years ago are now truly a thing of the past.

"We now have updated materials at all levels and this never ends," he said. "Today, the technological capabilities are very advanced and allow us to create material in real time and store it in computer databases."
