The Palestinian Media Watch warned in a bulletin this week that last week’s release of 198 Palestinian Authority prisoners, including two with “blood on their hands” convicted of the outright murder of Jews, has backfired.
The “good will gesture” by the government to PA Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas, meant to encourage the PA government and “strengthen the negotiations” has instead simply been perceived as weakness and submission, according to PMW.
The media watchdog organization said PA Arabs are being fed images by Abbas, through government-controlled media, of Israeli weakness, terrorists as heroes, and their release as a precedent for the future release of thousands of others.
