The Iranian government shut down the Tehran station of the Al-Arabiya satellite network and expelled its manager, over remarks that it claims were "insulting" to the Ayatollah Khomeini.
The Saudi bureau chief was expelled from the country following demands from university students across the country, who claimed that the station's "hard-line" Sunni stance was broadcasting a message that was hostile to local Iranians. "This demand came after this network, which is linked with hardline Saudi movements, broadcast a a film insulting Imam (Ruhollah) Khomeini, the founder of Islamic revolution, and Shiite beliefs," reported Iran's state radio.
